ALLELIC INTERACTIONS

  Allelic interaction: Different alleles at the same genetic locus interact with each other. Influence on traits: Allelic interactions affect the expression of traits and the outcome of genetic phenomena. Alleles: Alleles are alternative forms of a gene with variations in nucleotide sequence or function. Phenotypic effects: Allelic interactions have significant effects on the observable traits (phenotype) of an organism. Types of allelic interactions: Dominant-recessive interaction, co-dominance, incomplete dominance, epistasis, complementation, and gene interaction are different types of allelic interactions. Dominant-recessive interaction: One allele dominates over the other, determining the expressed phenotype, while the recessive allele is only expressed in the absence of the dominant allele.
